Attic Insulation The purpose of insulation is to provide a continuous thermal barrier to minimize heat flow through the walls, ceiling and floor. Insulation serves to keep a home comfortable and reduce costs for heating and cooling. Insulation Methods:
Blown cellulose insulation forms a seamless blanket of natural fibers that provide outstanding protection from the elements. Best of all, on the hottest and coldest days, (when you need it most) Cellulose insulation won't lose R-value like fiberglass. Cellulose insulation has an R-value of 3.8 per inch (nearly twice as much as blown fiberglass). We also offer blown cellulose that locks in place and eliminates shrinkage.
Radiant barriers are essential materials used for the reduction of summer heat gain and winter heat loss. They are often installed in buildings to help reduce heating and cooling energy usage. Radiant barrier is normally consisted of a thin sheet of a highly reflective material, (like aluminum) and is applied to one or both sides of some substrate materials which may include plastic films, kraft paper, plywood sheathing, cardboard and air infiltration barrier. For some, reinforcing these products with fiber helps to increase ease of handling and durability. Radiant barriers can be useful in commercial and industrial ones but this fact sheet is focused on the applications of radiant barriers in residential buildings.
